INTRODUCTION Worldwide, natural vegetable oil and fats are increasingly becoming important in nutrition and commerce because they are sources of dietary energy, antioxidants, bio-fuels and raw material for the manufacture of industrial products. They are used in food, cosmetic, pharmaceutical and chemical industries. Vegetable oils account for 80% of the world's natural oils and fat supply [1]. Edible oil in Uganda is mainly imported, an indication that oil production in Uganda is lower than the demand of 45,000-50,000 MT and which is growing at 3% per annum [2].
